Privacy Policy
How Sitevia collects, uses and protects your personal information. In short: we only use your details to reply to you and work with you.
1. Who we are
This website is run by Owen, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, trading as Sitevia ("we", "us"). For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
If you have any questions about this policy or your personal information, email owen@sitevia.io.
2. Information we collect
We only collect personal information that you choose to give us, when you:
- send an enquiry through our contact form: your name and email address, and optionally your phone number, business name, current website, the service you're interested in, approximate budget and project details;
- email us directly;
- become a client, in which case we hold the information needed to deliver and invoice our services.
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically processes basic technical information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
3. How we use your information
- To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote. Lawful basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
- To deliver services you've agreed to buy. Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
- To keep business and accounting records. Lawful basis: legal obligation.
- To protect our website from spam and abuse. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
We will never sell your information, and we won't add you to a mailing list without your permission.
4. Who we share it with
We only share personal information with trusted service providers that help us run the business, and only as far as necessary:
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website.
- Web3Forms delivers messages sent through our contact form to our inbox.
- Our email provider stores the emails we send and receive.
- Google Fonts supplies the fonts on this website. When a page loads, your browser connects to Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address.
- Accountants or professional advisers, where needed to meet legal or accounting obligations.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual clauses.
5. How long we keep it
If an enquiry doesn't lead to any work, we delete it within 12 months. Client records are kept for as long as we need them to provide our services and meet legal and tax requirements, which is normally up to six years after our work together ends.
6. Cookies
This website does not use cookies for advertising, analytics or tracking, which is why you won't see a cookie banner. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and ask for your consent first.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate;
- ask us to delete your information;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- ask for your information to be transferred to another organisation.
To make a request, email owen@sitevia.io. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.
